If you are keen on indoor plants, the japanese art of kokedama may be for you.
kokedama is the art of encasing a small plant into a moss ball, held in place with coconut matting and tied with twine. They are beautifully simple, and a very effective way to grow your indoor plants with no plastic pots.
I personally like to encase my plant with coconut netting first, then moss, then another layer of coconut netting, just to make it more stable and solid. In these kokedama I have used spider plants and a succulent plant.
If your chosen plant has baby sprouts, you can thread the twine in between them, so that it separates the sprouts, and allows them to spread over the whole moss ball.
Your healthy kokedama will eventually sprout roots as it grows through the moss. This is the time to either apply another layer of moss, coconut netting and twine. Alternatively, you can plant it straight into a pot or in the earth.
Kokedama will dry out, as plants do, so put them in a bowl of water to thoroughly soak all the way through the layers. This will also give the plant a long, slow release, reserve of moisture, so that you don’t have to water it every two or three cays.
